That public act seems to me like being some of the acts for the celebrations done at 1896 at Hungary by their millenium.

I think it would be a fair assumption; cupid uniting the arms of Hapsburg & Wittlesbach.

I knew that it was their wedding card.
Is this a cupid? I thought it was a simply angel, those images of angels were so common on those allegories.
thanks for the bigger!

I have a question. Whom was Elisabeth named after?

I know Elisabeth after her godmother, the Queen Elisabeth of Prussia, her mother's sister

Amalie after her paternal grandmother

but Eugenie? Does anyone know why her parents chose this name?

I think there was a Princess Eugenie somewhere.

She was named after her godmother Queen Elise of Prussia.

The sixteen years old princess on horseback in Possenhofen. This pictures painted by the history painter Karl von Piloty, was presented to Franz Joseph at Christmas 1853, the year he became engaged to Sisi.

Ooh, lovely, thank you Therry.  Smiley
I didn't realize it was from so early. What in the world is that thing over to the right? It looks like some sort of very tall fountain or something!
