The Empress (sometimes I think that it was based on her famous photo session of her standing near to a table and with a wonderful dress with train, well, the hairdo is similar)

A lot of paintings are based on earlier photographic portraits of the Empress. That's simply due to the fact that Elisabeth didn't pose for paintings or photographs in her later days. So the artists had be creative.

Oo, that's nice!  Smiley What photoshoot do you mean? I recognize the hairdo, but there are so many pictures of her in a long train!  Roll Eyes
I have a question, is this Sissi, and if it is, does anyone have it bigger?

Lovely, thank you!  Kiss Do you know who drew it, and when? Seems like 1860s to me..

I'm talking about this, it reminded me that painting!! What do you think?  Grin
About the beautiful drawing I don't know wno made it (like many of her portraits) but agree that it must be of her early years of marriage, she looks sooo young  Wink

Yes, I think that the hairstyles are very similar!  Wink
The dress reminds me awfully of this one:

Love those composited portraits! You're right the dress of a younger Sissi with the head of an older one. The posthumus portrait of her by Lazslo (1899) is the opposite, her face looks of much younger and the dress is of late 1890's!!  Cheesy
Found it as the Empress

That is really lovely though the children look a bit strange in their skimpy clothes...are they supposed to be Gisela's children? No wait--one of them must be little Erzi. Yet Stephanie is not there... Huh What page was the black and white version on, and was it bigger?  I love Elisabeth's dress!  Cheesy

From left to right: Sissi, Marie Valerie, Franz Joseph, Rudolph (with a book), the two daughters of Gisela (one of them Elisabeth, the other perhaps Augusta), Luitpold of Bavaria (Gisela's husband) and Gisela. Not Stephanie or Erszi, Rudolph was still single!
The B&W had a similar size, but  I found this recently online (the full portrait is in two parts), because would take you centuries to search on the previous parts for the first one  Sad

Very nice, thank you!  Smiley Do you know what year it was done? Seems to be around the 1870s, perhaps for Sissi and Franz's anniversary? Or was Rudolph married yet then?

The kids are Gisela's first two daughters, Elisabeth Marie and Auguste. I think this was probably created to the anniversary of the Empress and the Emperor in 1879 which would also explain why Stephanie is not on the photo. Rudolf got married 1881. Also, Elisabeth is wearing her famous ruby jewellery and that portrait was often used in connection with the anniversary and created by Georg Raab in 1878. So 1879 would make perfect sense.
