This can't be the governor's house in Tobolsk -- the balcony railing and the trim along the roofline don't match. ;^)

I think it's Mogliev. I saw it labeled as such somewhere. Pretty outfit she's wearing!  :D

That's very possible. The governor's house at Mogilev is often mislabeled as the governor's house in Tobolsk.

speaking of balconies and where are they...this  photo was sold in a Christies in the early 90's as the BP on the balcony in Tobolsk.
But it doesn't seem big enough and I believe that balcony had open railings . However both photos seem taken on a perhaps second balcony...buildings had a number

It also seems to have been taken too early for 1917...more like 1912, considering the hats, but if it was at Mogliev, it would have had to be during the war. Nice photo, should go in the 'Tatiana smiling' thread!

I'm beginning to suspect that the balcony pics were taken from Krasnoe Selo during the annual summer reviews. They look too young to be in Mogilev. And the houses behind them seems close to each other.

Nice find! I think you can see the stairs in some other photos, or at least the top of them. Like these:

Good observation. Here's a photo of the house at Mogilev for comparison:

Yes Tatiana face could squeeze itself into the very picture of glee. =)  And its always adorable when she does . Sablin's  book itself says " 1906-07 " in the caption ,
so even he was unsure.
