Anniversaries in the Italian Royal Families.
« on: March 18, 2010, 11:20:46 AM »
Since we have topics dedicated to anniversaries of births and deaths in some boards, I think that it would be good to have one here too.

March 18.
Exactly today it's the 27th Anniversary of the death of King Umberto II Di Savoia.
He died at the Cantonal Hospital of Geneva, Switzerland on March 18, 1983...and so the last King of Italy went away. :- (

If I may...

March 17th
On March 17th 1861, in Turin, Victor Emmanuel II of Savoy was proclaimed "Re d'Italia per grazia di Dio e volontÓ della Nazione" (King of Italy by grace of God and will of the Nation). That was the end of Italian Unification Process.

P.S.
I know that's not an anniverary of birth or death (although something actually was born that day), but it's still an important date to rember (may be the most important date, for House of Savoy).

It definitely deserve to be remembered, thank you Noloter.

Well, since I have entitled this topic as "Anniversaries in the Italian Royal Families", I think that it's a good idea to include anniversaries of historical events too and not just births and deaths.

Other important anniversary:

10 february 1855: Duke Ferdinando of Genoa dies in Turin, he was King Carlo Alberto's second son and the first Duke of Genoa

06 february 1854: the birth of Tomaso, Duke Ferdinando's son and second Duke of Genoa
