There is a Faberge item that used that picture of ON. It even included a miniature of NII. Here's the link:

The open surprise includes a miniature of ON based on the photo just posted.

Indeed the woman with Olga N. looks much more like Ella. Could that be at Ilinskoe and then arrange like a more official picture?

No, I think it is the Empress because of the wedding ring on her finger. It seems the pic was retouched to emphasize her feature.

Little Olga in 1897. Although it is a well-known photo, is the first time I see it in full:

Didn't Ella wear a wedding ring during her marriage? Or do you mean that the ring doesn't match Ella's?

I don't know about the ring, but the woman looks like Alexandra to me, AND - the pearl earings seem just like Alexandra's

The photo of Olga as a baby looks like it was photoshopped from this one:

Is it just me or does this look more like Ella than Alix? Further, did either of them have reason to be wearing dark (mourning?) clothing in 1896 or 1897?

I just ran into this photo from an article that says it's Alix ( shown along with Nicky's mother, sisters and nephew)

and it looks like it was taken at the same time ...plus Minnie's photo with Olga was most likely taken then too.

Both Alix and Minnie are dressed in mourning ,so that might help as to the why and who

Some close ups of Olga that I don't think were posted (I'm still working out thumbnails, so bear with me!)
