I have been researching the life of a Welsh peer, Evan Morgan (1893-1949) who in 1934 became the 2nd Viscount Tredegar.

On March 13, 1939, he married Princess Olga Sergievna Dolgorouky (1915-1998) in Singapore.

Olga was the daughter of Prince Serge Dolgoruky and the tragic Princess Irina (who died suddenly in 1917); as a young child she was aboard HMS Marlborough in 1919, which took her to a new life in Western Europe (firstly in Paris and then in England).

I have interviewed several people who knew Olga, who, even though her marriage to Lord Tredegar was short-lived, proved to be, by all accounts, a very popular Lady Tredegar to the estate workers. Olga often had to help preside over the rather mix-matched and chaotic parties that her eccentric husband threw: poets would sit next to priests, boxers next to bohemians; a menagerie of exotic pets (including a Honey Bear and boxing kangaroo) would entertain and alarm in equal measure.

Occasionally members of Olga's family would visit Tredegar House. Most frequently, and most notably, her half-brother 'Larry' - Ilarion Vorontzov Dashkov.

I would be most eager to hear from anyone with any information or contacts relating to Olga or 'Larry'.

Many Thanks,

Do you have any photos of them that you would be willing to share with us?

I certainly have several photographs of Olga Dolgorouky (Viscountess Tredegar) but none on my computer at the moment. I'll upload some when I get chance. I have no photographs of Ilarion Vorontzov-Daschkov (who died in 1982)  at all, but would love to hear if any of the members here do.

Oddly enough, I am playing the role of 'Larry' at a Murder Mystery at Tredegar House this evening. Both myself, and Larry's half-sister Olga are suspects!

It should be good fun.
