Patsy was very modern in her thinking, and chose to drop her title of princess on the occation of her marriage to Ramsey. That is why it was so interesting that she pushed herself forward into the carriage for princesses on the occation of the coronation of George VI (with her other HRH cousins).

This could be because she was a "princess of the blood" still. She was by birth a princess. And because she surrendered the title doesn't mean she lost all the privileges according with that title such as precednce in a coronation ceremony.

Her son looked very much like her in looks and grew up to be a handsome young man. Well...I still think it is strange, as nobody forced her to give up her title as princess. My thought is that as she grew older, she became more minded her status in the Royal Family. Being "lady" is not as same as a "princess".  ;)

Here are some pictures of Patsy I've gotten in the last few months. These images were newer to me (which is why I got them) and that can be a pretty tough thing! The quality isn't the best because until my harddrive is fixed, I'm only photographing them with my iphone and uploading to photobucket rather than scanning.

Eck..at first glance I thought that's Lady Irene Mountbatten, spouse of Alexander. Obviuosly it's just an angle that made me think so.

The caption said Sholto Douglas. The name isn't familiar to me. Could've been someone Patricia knew from artistic circles.

She looked very serious there. I wonder if it is still with her family or bought by the Royal Collections ?

NOBODY pushes themselves forward as far as their places in a carriage procession....EVEN today....the likes of Princess Michael of Kent may manoeuvre on the palace balcony to stand behind the Queen to get in the main press pictures etc....but in the likes of a carriage procession the protocol/precedence/pecking order would be arranged by courtiers & as strictly observed as if "Madame Etiquette" the Duchess de Mouchy was orchestrating it herself!

Patricia was a very talented amateur artist AND gave the royal collection to of its greatest modern day portraits ...those of her parents by John Singer Sargent.

That is why it is so interesting that Patsy wanted to be with the Princesses when she gave up the title voluntarily. Princess Anne, The Princess Royal did not gave up her title when she married a commoner. Can you imagine Fergie in the carriage with Sophie Wessex ? Lady Patricia Ramsey was not a HRH like Fergie or Wallis (who was not divorced).
