Do you mean, like Tatiana? Sorry, I'm not sure what "band" means...

A band means 'headband'. A decorative piece that can either slide over the head or tied. A scarfe or a piece of jewellery placed in the hair can be used for the term 'band'.

Back to the hairstyles.....................
I look at them and sigh with the style. These days to get mine looking even remotely like that, I have to go a hairdresser. I just don't have the patience to do it anymore. I used to stand in front of the mirror - when I was younger - and style it all the time as I had no-one else to think about. These days, I've have a shorter look but still admire the hairstyles from yesteryear.
I'm going to grow mine a bit longer now, though I don't have  a live in hairdresser to do style it for me, alas.

I wish I could make my hair like the girls when they're young, before 1913. I never did, it's really difficult to let the hair up in the front.

No, usually they didn't. I think this is because there was a bigger age difference between them.
You are filled with anguish
For the suffering of others
And no one's grief
Has ever passed you by
You are relentless
Only towards yourself
Forever cold and pitiless
But only if you could look upon
Your Own sadness From a distance
Oh, how you would pity yourself
How sadly you would we

Yes, I though that too, AnastasiaNikolaevna. I know the boys usually dressed alike, in sailor suits.

That is true. Fo the most part, boys outfits are, and will always be, the same throughout ages. Besides from more mature items like a walking stick or a top hat, etc., young boys would pretty much wear the same clothing they would when the were adults.

for girls, as you probably already know, it was a bit more complicated. Dress hems were lowered according to age, and skirts were strictly for teenagers/adults.

Also, your English is wonderful!! What is your native language?

No problem! Ah! Right! Now it makes sense, as I was reading your signature. Anyway, you can hold a conversation in English so that's a pretty good start! :D

Yes, now I can. I know this forum for two, three years, but I couldn't trust my English yet, that's why I just joined recently, because now I understand most of the things ;)
