There is a photo of them in the on-line collection of Huis Doorn, I believe.

I saw on Marlene's blog that John van der Kiste has written a short e-book (60,000 words with 6 illustrations) on Charlotte and Feo called Charlotte and Feodora: A troubled mother-daughter relationship in imperial Germany. It's only a $1.99. It's gotten mixed reviews (just 2 so far total though) but I took a leap since it's only $2. I just thought I'd pass it on to anyone looking for a quick royal book--provided they have an e-reader. It will be interesting, seeing as we hear about how hard it is to get non-NAOTMAA books published, if more authors go this route either with short books or full-length ones. Marlene has an article she wrote on the Gleichens available for download as well.

I don't think that is how it happened. Feodora was married and wasn't thrown out. Read John Rohl's "Purple Secret" for the heath problems of both Charlotte & Feodora.

I ordered the book on Kindle last night, so far I love it!! I like Mr. Van der Kiste's writing style very much.

In Rohl's book, Purple Secret, he does talk of Feo being thrown out by Charlotte & Bernhard. She went to live briefly with Henry & Irene who were very indignant about her treatment by her parents.

Feodora got married in 1898, so she had a home with her husband. It was after her marriage that Charlotte began to find fault with her daughter. So she wasn't kicked out of her home, she moved out after her wedding...

She began to find fault with her long before her marriage, it just erupted into open warfare after her marriage.

She did bar Feo from her house---yes it was after her marriage, that was my error in memory--and Feo & Henry stayed with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Irene. Henry & Irene were very angry about it and wrote to Charlotte expressing their views. It caused a rupture between Charlotte and her brother for some time.

John Rohl wrote about it in his book on Wilhelm, not Purple Secret. John van der Kiste also wrote of it.

Yes. It was after her marriage. Charley did not get on with her son-in-law either. So Feodora wasn't "homeless" as indicated being kicked out, but she was forbidden to visit her parents. Irene & Heinrich did took her in for visits.

In Purple Secret, John Rohl wrote that her whole demeanor maybe brought on by the disease. The same that affected Charley. Not sure about Feodora's relationship with her other aunts (Sophie, Victoria & Margaret).
