From what I can find there were no Olympic Winter Games in 1912 only the Summer Games in Stockholm where Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich competed on horseback.

The first Olympic Winter Games were held in 1924 in Chamonix, France.

The 1924 Paris Olympic Summer Games were immortalized in the movie Chariots of Fire.

So I don't know where your figure skater is going to compete or how she will be good and well known, but that is the challenge of writing historical fiction.

Hatred – this is a disgusting feeling. Yes, there is sport gambling, there is a striving to win. But to hate someone – this is awful! I think, that first of all you have to learn to respect your rival. -- Evgeni Plushenko

Alixz, I think you should try and get your book going again.  If your former partner is not interested, see if you can "buy her out", to avoid any future legal problems.  If she is no longer interested, then she should step back and let you, who is intersted, proceed.

Recently a bio on GDss Maria Alexandrovna has been issued in Russian. There is a selection of her correspondence with Missy of 1879-1920 years there. It's really captivating reading though the selection is not large and of course wihout any "spicey" details about Marie of Romania's private life. Let's see the coming book, I especially want to read the letters in English.

What language is that page in? Do you have any idea where this book can be purchased?  I've always had trouble directly tracking down where Rosovall Royal books can be directly bought from the publisher online.

It looks like English - interesting, since her native language was Russian, and she was brought up before the craze for English nannies and governesses.

Katmaxoz, I believe this is a page in the Romanian language written by the author of this book. Her weblog can be found at http://royalromania.wordpress.com/. And Rosvall Royal Books has its seat in Falkoping, Sweden; contact details can be found here: http://rosvallroyalbooks.wordpress.com/contact/ .

And interesting to read that Serge and Ella were utterly 'unbeholfen' - 'awkward' or 'clumsy' - in London; after all, they had travelled a lot and Ella was fluent in English.

Helen,

Rosvall Royal Books says: Send for our free catalogues with over 500 different Royal Books..

How can I get them? Why are there no online catalogues? This is complicated..
