Alexander I of Yugoslavia & Princess Marie (Mignon) of Romania, Part 2
Eric_Lowe:
It sounds like a beautiful love story. I wonder what Charlotte looks like ? Thanks Marc for the information. This is indeed a love story that slid off the cracks.
Kalafrana:
As well as being a very decent man, Tomislav seems to have been a realistic one, taking up fruit farming rather than spending his adult life dreaming of vanished glories. Certainly he was the only one of Alexander's three sons who had a reasonably happy life - Peter was an alcoholic and Andrej apparently committed suicide.

Yes. But he was also divorced. But I agree that compared to the others, he fared better.

Yes,he was divorced, but in his autobiography he has written all the best about his former wife Margarethe...although he never mentioned any reason for divorce,he stated that they remained true friends even after!
His second wife was his neighbor in England and it is supposed to be the reason, but he didn't say anything clearly. Also,in later years of his life,he and Linda lived separately...She lived in London and he lived in Oplenac...While living in Serbia,he had a lady friend, whom he often presented as his secretary, but the truth is that this lady was infiltrated by the state secret police in order to keep an eye on him for some reasons...
Of course,he was not a saint, but was the most loved and respected by the Serbian people, out of all Alexander's sons...as well as probably the only one who kept in touch with his uncle Prince George and his wife Princess Radmila...
Eric_Lowe:
Agreed. I once met his first wife in a book party. She is fascinating and have a thick German accent. She was accompanied by her daughter (also Tomislav's).
