She had a good mentor in her mother of how a queen should behave.

And so much for the concern that Alexander would be unable to father children.

He looks very happy there.

The relationship between Olga & Mignon had always been difficult despite the firm friendship of their mothers.

I did not know that Princess Nicolas and Queen Marie of Romania were friends. They were so different from each other ! When was exactly their friendship ?

Their friendship started when Missy visited Russia. She was very friendly with the family of Grand Duke Vladimir. Also Missy had a fling with Helen's brother Boris, and her sister Ducky married Cyril. Apart from Missy & Ducky. Helen was also friendly with their youngest sister Baby Bee (Infanta Beatrice of Borbon-Orleans). It was between Bee & Helen that cooked up the match match making for Helen's daughters. It was in one of those "Opportunities" in London that Olga met her future husband Paul of Yugoslavia.

Thank you for this interesting info.
However, it seems that Helen was not closely linked with her own sister-in-law Victoria Melita, her brother's Cyril wife. Indeed, in one of her letters written in 1907, Ducky says about her to her sister "Maddy" (Marie of Romania) : " We are very busy here, not a quiet moment, especially since the parents of Cyril are there . Ellen and Nicky (Prince and Princess Nicolas of Greece) are also there. She has changed a lot and her company is not pleasant. She is never happy and is not at all friendly. She works well with Aunt michen, She does not pay attention, what michen aunt complains a lot ".

That is very interesting since the correspondence between the two was described by Arturo Beeche as "very close". In the book "dear Ellen" there are quite a few photos of both relaxed in each other's company. Arturo said he might publish the correspondence between the them. We can only hope. Also Helen did not cut out Ducky totally even though she did not agree with her brother's pretensions to the throne. I think we you read here is all Miechen's work. Once she died, I guess they became more friendly. Ducky and her family was invited to Marina & George's wedding in London (Kyra was one of the bridesmaids). Also Baby Bee and Queen Mary originally hoped that Olga or Marina will catch David (Prince of Wales) failed, but it gave a chance to Paul of Yugoslavia and George later fell for Marina.
