Sorry, it was MY English that was the trouble! lol!

Does the colouring programs have a function that allows you to put on
a nearly transparent  colour  that would enhance the main color.

For instance Nicholas's  red coat...could one place a slight dark brown on it first, that
would make the red shadows richer when that color went on ....that's how it done with paints.
The "undercoat " (in English we call a layer of paint ,"a coat"  of paint ) can effect the look
of the  "overcoat" (  the color on top, in this case : Red ) I wondered if computer coloring  allows one to do the same?

Basically I'm saying  that I would paint the shadows of Nicholas's tunic a brown...and so when I painted  the red colour , the shadows of the garment would be richer, than if I just painted the red...and I wondered if one can do that in coloring photos?
