Dorothea of Shlewig-Holstein was a spouse of Feodora's brother Ernst Gunther. She was born in 1881 a Princess of Saxe-Coburg,daughter of Prince Philipp of Saxe-Coburg (a friend of Crownprince Rudolf of Austria-Hungary) and unfortunate Princess Louise of Belgium...Her parents detested each other, she had a very sad childhood, and in 1898 she was married to Duke Ernst Gunther, frivoulous and troublesome man.
They had no children.

Does anyone have info on / pics of Empress Dona's younger sisters Caroline-Mathilde "Calma" and Luise-Sophie "Jaja" (there is already a thread on sister Feodora) ? Calma (1860-1932) was married to her cousin Friedrich Ferdinand von Schleswig-Holstein and Jaja (1866-1952) to prince Friedrich Leopold of Prussia. The latter lived in Schloss Glienicke and I believe there is a scandal connected with their name but I do not know what it was about.

The scandal connected with Luise Sophie was discussed in the thread "The Connaughts" in "The Windsors".
You know,Agneschen,I myself in a constant searching of pictures of Luise Sophie (Jaja or Pusse)...I read her memoirs -not a very bright book -but I liked it. Luise Sophie had endless conflicts with Kaiser and his wife, her own eldest sister. She did not like all that strict offical atmosphere at The Court, tried to live a simple life and always fight to be independent in her opinions and actions. Luise wrote a book of memoirs where let herself go to accuse Kaiser in many of her family's misfortunes.
As for Calma - she was a "go-between" in Luise's and Imperial Couple squabbles and very often suffered of a cause herself.

Queen Victoria wrote that she was: "...dear & amiable as well as pretty. Calma is the prettiest...[but] her teeth spoil her a little..." (17.3.1880...or if you're American 3.17.1880)

Thanks Svetabel ! I did not know that the scandal had been discussed in another thread. I am going to go and have a look at it. Could you give me the title of Luise Sofie's memoirs ? for I am very much interested.

Agneschen, Luise Sophie's book is "Behind the scenes at the Prussian court",issued in 1933 in London. It seems the book was never re-issued and very rare to get.I myself read a very old copy of one of my european friends.
As for the images of Luise and Calma - I`ll dig out my collection and post them.

Agneschen,if you cannot find a book of Luise's memoirs I could post some interesting quotes from it. I said that the book was not a bright one but there was some funny anecdotes.

Many thanks for the pictures GDElla & Svetabel !
On the one posted by GDElla the young girl on the left looks very much like Dona. Can it be Dona and Calma or Jaja ?
Svetabel I will definitely try to get the Luise Sophie's bio but since it seems to be a pretty rare book I have little hopes and so would be delighted if you would post some quotes. Thank you so much.

In the photo with all the daughters and in-laws you can also see Charles Edward, duke of Coburg on the far left as he was married to Victoria Adelhaid. Helena, who married Prince Harold of Denmark, became a virulent Nazi. It was so bad that Christian X actually exiled her from Denmark and only allowed her to return when her husband became ill.
