Anekezout: Great links, that Serenade sounded so beautiful and familiar, I never knew the lyrics were by K.R.! Who might she be, the baby? or at least young girl he was serenading to sleep in Palermo in 1882, many years before his own daughters was born?

Nicolá: Nice little placid poem. Though I think your translation has even more "abstract phrases" than K.R.'s original :-)

Ha ha, Feodor thanks! But I think that this is not exactly me who added these words, this is a well-trained poet in my soul;). And in addition the problem is in the very straight and academical style of K.R (hard to translate seriously and at a good level). I added just some little but necessary words to make it more poetical in English. But anyway this is free translation.

Hello, everyone  *smiles* First post!

I just discovered K.R. last year, and maybe he's not to everyone's taste but I really like his work (what I've found translated).  I'm still looking for a collection of his work in book form, but I may have to settle for the Internet.  I think he was overshadowed by the "big" names of the period, and by his close relation to the Imperial Family.  

Anyway, I found this site: http://www.litera.ru/stixiya/authors/kr.html.  It's in Russian, but I suppose there's always translation (my Russian is poor).

I think it's the anniversary of his death today.  I heard a recording of his poem "I do not please you" by the singer Arkhipova in a setting by Tschaikovsky, but didn't know about his other work.
