(1/1)

Suzanne:
Sudeley Castle is having a summer festival to celebrate the 500th birthday of its most famous resident

Kimberly:
My neighbour attended the Starkey lecture. She said that it was excellent and Strarkeyclaimed that her ghost walks the grounds  of the castle. I can believe that.............it is quite expensive to get into the place!! :-)

Suzanne:
As you can see from the pictures, I was traveling in the Cotswolds before the palace opened so I only got to see the grounds - hope to see the inside of the palace on another trip!

Kimberly:
Bring your cheque book then!!!
This castle is local to me and I can remember previous visits were wonderful. Access to all the interesting parts of the castle (obviously not the private apartments), lots of interesting exhibits and information, glorious paintings and portraits and such like, all for one price. Visited last year and it was oh so different. Very poor IMHO, paying extra to see this and extra to see that. Katherine Parr's tooth and a lock of her hair was on show though. :-( I think "corporate" is the descriptive word I am looking for.

Suzanne:
That's a shame - Sudeley looked quite lovely from the outside. I went to see Warwick Castle on a May bank holiday weekend (I was in England from January-July 2009) and found it also to be quite expensive and commercial (it's run by Madame Tussauds) - I had a fun time though as there were lots of special bank holiday events.
