House of Lichtenstein

Are there any linkages between the Hohenzollerns and the royal line of Lichtenstein? Does Lichtenstein play any significant role in European royal marriages and/or involvements? Thanks!

They didn't seem to. They probably weren't regarded as royal enough. Their connections come during the modern era it seems when they've had alliances with the houses of Yugoslavia, Wurttemberg and Hapsburg. They're covered now in royal magazines but I don't recall seeing much about them in the Victorian/Edwardian period.

a princely family that never even resided in Liechtenstein until the succession of the late Prince Franz Joseph in the 1930s.  There were marriages with the Habsburgs and other mitteleuropa families.

The fact that the family never even resided in Liechtenstein could explain why one of my friends claimed to be of "von Liechtenstein" ancestry yet his great grandmother resided in Marienwerder West Prussia which is now Kwidzyn Poland. I refuted the claim but perhaps it is indeed possible.

Princess Marie's grand mothers were born Princess Isabelle of Orléans-Bragance and Archduchess Rose of Austria.

Allthough the House belongs in the Habsburg thread,there ofcourse is a BeNeLux connection to it be it that HRH Princess Margeretha of Luxembourg
married HSH Prince Nikolaus von und zu Liechtenstein,a younger brother of HSH Fürst Hans Adam and Liechtensteins ambassador to the EU.
(He will retire this summer from his post).

Their son Prince Josef played an important role during the last Trooping the Colour on june 12th as he,Lieutenant of the Irish Guards,carried the
regimental banner and commanded the Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace.Handsome lad!

He's quiet young for an Officer,21,and has his military training at Sandhurst at present as his uncle Henri and grandfather Grand Duke Jean did.

Cleaning lady was very busy deleting a million of broken links posted by you at various threads. If she failed to move a thread to a proper subforum it's not a great horror and awful mistake, and doesn't mean that cleaning lady doesn't think what she is doing.

With Lichtenstein / Liechtenstein (same pronunciation: ['ˈlɪçtənʃtaɪ̯n) being a quite common place name in German lands, I wouldn't surprised if there were several families of the lower nobility with that name. Compare for example the situation with the Princes of Fürstenberg and the Barons Von Fürstenberg.

Lichtenstein Castle in Württemberg, built by Wilhelm of Württemberg, Duke of Urach, is an example of a Lichtenstein that has nothing to do with the princely family:

So the Archbishop Haas stamps his ugly little feet in Liechtenstein!Why?Well,Liechtensteins Prince Heritier Alois has spoken in favour of equal partnerships as of september 1st 2011,better known as gay partnerships and in one of the strictest Catholic countries in Europe that is downright blasphemy!But only to the Bishop,
no-one else gives a flying fart.But on Liechtensteins National Day on august 15th the Archbishop now refuses to celebrate Holy Mass because of it....holy mess...

68% is a worthwhile vote in favour of equal partnership,the 32% left either didn't care or said no due to being close to their own experation date anyway.
