Instead of using someone else's source,  maybe, they had it measured and used their own sources.  Massie and Summers & Mangold's measurements were not that different.

I agree..perhaps whoever made the books used secondary souceres and in traveling etc th sizes were altred.

There was questions about what lysv could mean.

There is suggestions it was a place:  Lysev.

Guess what I found in Yurovsky's 1920s testimony in the book THE FALL OF THE ROMANOVS p. 365:

Yurovsky:  "I left with a report for Moscow on the night of th 19th.  It was then that I gave the valuables to Trifonov, member of the Third Army's Revolutionary Council.  I think Beloborodov, Novoselov, and someone else buried them in a basement in the earthen floor of a worker's house in Lysev."

Doesn't say what "valuables".

From one version of his Note:

"A. F. turned out to be wearing an entire pearl belt made from several necklaces sewn into linen. Each of the girls turned out to be wearing a picture of Rasputin around her neck with the text of his prayer sewn into an amulet. The diamonds were immediately recorded, about half a pood were collected. It was all buried at Alapaevsk in the cellar of one of the little buildings. In 1919 it was dug up and taken to Moscow. "

Don't know if he means the same thing in both of these passages or not.

Hmmm, soldiers anger for the Tsar? Did it make them feel patriotic to be helping the Russian peasents?

how come in all the supposeldy same accounts, things are different? like one soldier says three chairs were brought, but yurovsky says 2, and so on.

All the criminal lawyers as well as District Attorney's,  I know, they would prefer to have  cirumstantial evidence  over eye wittnesses.  Why?  Because eye wittnesses don't usually see or remember the same things.  And, quite often the wittnesses are not accurate with the facts they present.

In a class at Boalt Law School,  one of the prof. use to have a group of people unexpectedly enter a class room, act out a criminal act, and then the group would rush out of the class room.

The prof would then place on the board what people remembered.

It was amazing what a huge class room of future lawyers,  all who had to be at the top of their class to be in Boalt, saw or thought they saw.

The group would be called back into the room.  And step by step the prof. would show how unreliable wittnesses were.

So,  the same kind of problems occured with those who claimed to have been eye wittnessses to the execution and buriel of the IF.

This is one of the main reasons I like to dig out "evidence" which either supports what's been told to us by men like Yurovsky or the investigators, instead of taking testimony as the absolute proof that events occured.

From what I've read,  I thought all the valuables were collected, marked, then packed up in boxes and taken to Moscow.

Why on earth would they take these particular valuables, place then in a bag, take them to Lysev, which was near Perm, and bury the valuables in a bag in earthen floor of a worker's home?

Because the first cellar room model I present on romanov-memorial.com was 7 years old, I decided to rebuilt it from scratch using new photos and elements I collected about it from this time (for example new photo from Penny and greg).
