Help needed: book on Emperor's Konvoi Unit
« on: January 18, 2005, 08:08:18 PM »
I am trying to find a book which deals with Nikolai's Konvoi unit. This book I believe was written over 50 years ago by a member of this cossack unit. From memory it contained numerous photographs as well.

Could anyone please provide me the title and author. I am not refering to the Grabbe's books which I already have.

Any help will be appreciated,

Thanks in advance,

Belochka

Hi Belochka!

I remember seeing a reference to a book about the Konvoi published years ago in emigration (in San Francisco if I recall correctly, in the 1950s or 60s). Unfortunately I can’t find that reference right now. A search in the US Library of Congress Library Catalog turned up a book by Nikolai V. Galushkin: “Sobstvennyi Ego Imperatorskago Velichestva konvoi” (410 p.) published in 1961 (but it doesn’t say where). Maybe this it. If so, good news! another book (416 p.) by the same author, with the same title was published in Moscow last year (2004) by Reitar (ISBN: 5806700232): most probably a reprint of the 1961 edition.

Just in case, I will keep looking for the reference I have seen a long time ago.

Hi Daniel,

This is great news. I will try and find these two Russian language books from my Russian sources. It is more than likely that the second book is a reprint.

Any other books which you may come across in either Russian or English will be appreciated.

Thanks very much for your help! :D  :D :D
