I've always loved Zita's wedding tiara.  Can someone tell me anything about it, and are there other wedding photos that you could share? :)

There are some more wedding pictures on the website mentioned above, but there's some problem with it, because I can't open some of them - and as thumbnail images, they're REALLY small. :'( Like this:

I managed to find one more shot on the web:

And there's also a short movie from 1911 (!). You can watch it here:

At time of her engagement with archiduc Carl of Austria, Zita was 19 years old. But on pics of her marriage, she seems so juvenile !

Zita was ever very elegant. As a simple princess of Bourbon-Parma and later, as a young empress, she had a sophisticated style and a natural class and chic.
The 1900's fashion suited her very well.

What do you know about Zita's childhood ? On photos of her with parents and siblings she wasn't often smiling. Did she had a happy childhood and what were her relations with children of her father's first marriage ?

Thanks for the lovely pictures. Of the lead characters of early 20th century royals I've always found her as one of the most intriguing.

Do you know whether photos exist of her State Funeral in Vienna in 1988?

Of course ... newspapers and magazines covered the funeral, which I think was shown on tv in Austria, as well.  In fact, I think there was a video (PAL, region 2) sold afterward.  I was working for the Associated Press at the time, and one of our Viennese correspondents attended, and he sent me the program, the mass card, his ticket and seat ticket.

Oh yes they do...

I have the video which is wonderful.  I also have 3-4 photos I bought from a photographer who was there at the time.  Two of these made it into the Zita In Memorian.

When the Empress died I was on Spring Break in Costa Rica visiting my parents.  I was quite tempted to leave the beach, and my poor mother stone-cold, and hop on an airplane and fly to Vienna to witness the funeral...alas, maternal guilt won that day!  :-)
