On the photograph:

The godchild of the army and the fleet (=navy).

The legend:

Princess Aikaterini, youngest daughter of Constantine and Sophia.
"The godchild of the army and the fleet".

Comment: Constantine, son of George I (a Dane prince) and Sophia (Kaiser Wilhelm's sister)

Oh so it is Katherine. Thank you for the translation. I did not even recognize her. It is a lovely portrait. She looks a bit like Sophie when she was a child. We had discussed the fact that she may not have actually been Tino's daughter on another thread. In this photo you can see that there is little resemblance to him. I do think she looks a bit like her elder brother Alexander in this photo though.

Could someone discuss the life of Princess Katherine of Greece, youngest child of King Constantine and Queen Sophie. How did she meet Mr. Brandram and what was life like for her in England after she decided to become known as Lady Katherine. Did she grow up in England? I read somewhere that Queen Sophie had wanted all of her daughters to marry Englishmen.

I´ve been looking for some info. According to a book published in Spain called "La Familia de la Reina Sofia" Queen Helen of Romania claimed that Princess Katherine was not the daughter of King Constantine...

Princess Katherine was granted the rank of a duke's daughter in Great Britain on 9 September 1947 by King George VI and is known as Lady Katherine Brandram.

I have heard of this also. Katherine was born much later than her older brothers and sisters (George II-Helen-Alexander-Irene-Paul). Is their any evidence of this, or of whom her father may have been?

Perhaps a Greek. Princess Katherine does not look at all like her sisters and is much darker skinned...

Darius,  I am not doubting you or your sources but from what I have read about Helen I have a hard time believing she would say this about her sister.

Also, from what I read about Queen Sophie, I have hard time believing she would have an affair.

Does anyone else have any information (with sources) on this matter?

We deiscussed Katherine's paternity very briefly on another thread.

As hard as it is to believe that Sophie would have had an affair and one that produced a child, it does seem like it certainly could be true. It was somthing that was apparently not common knowledge though. Despite the uncertainty Katherine was very close to Tino. I will say that she does not look much like him at all.

I dont think anything is known about the identity of the man.

Darius, if you could post some exact quotes from this book, it would be most appreciated.

I also have my doubts as to whether Tino was Paul's father too... This is just my opinion, judging by his looks and height.

Mrs. Eddy

I have never considered this before but you are correct and on to something.  Paul was of a much larger physical stature than the other Royal Greek Males of that generation.

To me (and this will sound strange), Paul has a very American "Mid West" look.  In uniform, he has the posture of a high ranking officer of the USA  Armed Forces.  Much like my father-a Marine Corp Veteran.

The story of Katherine's paternity was apparently told to Robert Golden as well. This has come up on other news threads before as well as the fact that it was apparently confirmed by Queen Helen. I think the fact that a) Tino had a mistress b) the fact that Katharine looks so different and c) the age gap (9 yrs?) between Katharine and her next sibling has led to questions.

As for Paul, I don't know. Couldn't the fact that he was larger be a confirmation that he was Tino's? Tino as well as Greek George were very large while Nicholas, Andrew and Christopher were all slighter. Wasn't Alexander pretty large as well?
