I think this is a great idea......it would be nice to have a list complied of books that people no longer want and are willing to give to board members...I will have to look through my books at home....I usually end up selling them or donating them to the library.

 :)

Aloha!

I have a paperback book entitled "The House of Special Purpose" by Christopher Hyde.

It is a FICTIONAL book - not the one written by the Grand Duchess's tutor.
It deals with a spy story about tracing an artifact from the Romanovs during WWII.   ;)

For any spy novel fans crossover Romanov fans out there, it would be very good.  ;D

I ordered it from Amazon.com in the thought that it would be the other book by the same name - oops!  ::)

Happy to send it to whomever would like it!  I just don't like spy stories!

Hi Janet R,

Is the book still available? I'm interested, I like to read fiction in between..

Maybe we should just repost the books we have? I have S.Mc Neil, The Plot to Save the Tsar. and The Romanovs the Final Chapter, Massie. No one seems to want these two.

Bernard, what's the first book about?  I have the Trewin book (House of Special Purpose isn't Gibbes' book, just based on his notes and things like that).

Bernard -- Do you have the original "House of Special Purpose" -- "La Maison A Destination Speciale"(1924) -- by Valentin Speranski?  I've got one of those...

Hello Penny,

Yes, i have recently found one original copy of this book. I am  impressed you know it because it's seems not to be very known. I have also open a thread about it to have people opinion about this book because, as far as I am conceirned, it's the worst book about this subjects I have ever read.

At beginning, author say he want to carry on the inquiry, find new elements, etc. OK. it's seems to be interesting with the visit of Ipatiev House by author but after first chapters; we learn nothing new and the the author loses himself in out-subjects reflexions (like scene in theater) and the reconstitution of the drama holds on 3 pages. I for my part was very disappointed by this book and there is non pictures, maps, or other doc! What about you Penny ?

the first book is from Michel de Saint Pierre and it's about Romanov Czar and have two parts (I have just the part two about Nicolas II)

It's a classical one and very interesting (not especialy about the inquiry or thesis about their death) so I recommend to everybody

you can found ref about it at :
