As far as I can see Baron Carl (von) Blixen-Finecke was actually the paternal grandfather of Baron Bror Blixen-Finecke, the husband of Karen Blixen née Dinesen. But by his first marriage, to the Swedish noblewoman Gustava Charlotta Adelaide Sofie Ankarcrona. So Augusta of Hesse-Kassel was the stepmother of Karen Blixen's father-in-law Baron Fredrik Theodor Blixen-Finecke.

His wife, Bror's mother, was Comtesse Clara Alvi(l?)de Benedicte Krag-Juel-Vind-Frijs née (von) Haffner, who was the first cousin of Karen Blixen's father Adolf Wilhelm Dinesen (their mothers Thyra and Dagmar Haffner were sisters). That makes Karen and her husband Bror second cousins.

Baron Carl Blixen-Finecke's beautiful Danish manor Dallund on Funen:

Thanks for the info. You won't get that from the book or the movie.  ;)

Princess Augusta and Baron Carl also had a house in Helsingør, called "Villa Augusta". In her later years, as a widow Augusta lived in the "Yellow Mansion" during the winter.

They are mentioned in several books about the Danish Royals, in memoirs from members of the court and such, and Carl Blixen was a famed politician in his own right.

You are welcome. No, I'm afraid that none of them are in English.
The marriage was not popular in the family but it was accepted. Rumor had it that Napoleon III had wanted to marry Augusta, but her father Landgraf Wilhelm was very anti-French and anti-Bonaparte, so nothing came of it.

Group portraits of the Glücksborg family from 1828 with 8 of the 9 children. Missing is the youngest child Prince Nikolaus. Christian (IX) is bottom right.

Is there anywhere a bigger version of King Christian's family? It would be great to see them because most of them were quite unknown...

I only have them slightly bigger, but here goes.
Wilhelm, 1. Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg, the younger line.

Duchess Louise, born Princess of Hesse-Cassel.

Their marriage was a love mach. The couple spend their first years living at her father, Landgrave Carl's home, Gottorp Palace.
