Can someone please tell me - does Prince Michael have any kind of relationship with Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh? They first cousins, aren't they?

Amelia

The problem with Michael of Greece and the DOE having a normal cousin relationship is that neither had a normal childhood. Michael of Greece's parents both died before he was fully grown, with Michael being raised by his mother's family - the family of the Count of Paris. Philip's parents were not able to raise him so he was sent away to school and raised by his grandmother VMH and Uncle Dickie Mountbatten. Thus, Michael grew up amongst the French royal family and Philip amongst the British, Hessian, and Greek royals. There was very little chance for their paths to cross at all, so I am fairly certain they don't know each other well, if at all, in spite of being 1st cousins.

I've met personaly prince Michael, here in Athens. he is a very interesting personality, with a great sence of humor, and propably the most intelectual royal person i know. Just for the history, he was the only member of the Greek Royal Family that stayd in Greece after the army's coup in 1967, and the only member of the family that could visit Greece after the referendum, when King Constantine has his argument with the Greek State about his property. Prince Michael could freely come to Greece, propably because he is a low profile man anyway, but also because of his french passport, wich perimited him to travel as ''Michel De Grece''. When Prince Michael married the greek painter Marina Karela, in 1965, he resigned from his rigths to the Greek Throne, but his two daughters, Alexandra and Olga, are prinsess.

Prince Michael does not have a moustache, not at all.

I took this photo not very long ago when we were in Paris working on his next three books, to be published by EUROHISTORY.SOM"s Kensington House Books rubric.
