Do you mean Euxinograd in Varna ? It is still there. Was used as an exclusive resort for top  officials in the Soviet era.  I have a friend who lives there, he tells me it is no being renovated, but not quite sure what for. Either a hotel or museum one would suppose.
[there is a picture of it on the Varna web site]

I would love to go.  The last time I sat down to discuss Coburg things with King Simeon he invited me to visit his country, but I just have not found the time.

I know of the former royal palace in Sofia. And Simeon lives in a country palace just ouside of the city. I forget what that one is called. [it may be the one you are referring to]. It is now a private rseidence, having been given back to Simeon, along with the expese of putting it back it order. I was just told that the grounds of the estate used to be open on weekends, but not any more.

Does anyone have pictures of the Bulgarian Royal Residences?  I particularly am interested in the Rila Mountain lodges.  I think they were called Tzarska-Bistritza, Sara-Ghyol, Sitniankovo.

So whats their official residence? You know the Buckingham palace of the Bulgarians, those palaces look to small for a Kingdom.

The Royal Palace, which is now the national Art Gallery was their official residence.   Vrania Palace was their weekend retreat, sort like Windsor Castle.  Euxinograd was the Summer Palace.

I don't think that any of the Bulgarian Palace's were very large or grand.
