Anastasia - fair hair, "fine" eyes

Dehn:

Tatiana - "dark chestnut" hair, "deep blue" eyes
Maria - "dark brown" hair, "dark blue" eyes
Anastasia - not described

Gilliard:
Olga - very fair
Tatiana - "auburn" hair
Maria - grey eyes
Anastasia - not described

Vyrubova:
Olga - "brilliant blue eyes"
Tatiana - "rich brown" hair, eyes "so darkly grey" that they appeared "quite black" in the evening
Maria & Anastasia - "blonde types"
What about Eagar?

This is the full quote:

"Certainly she was a different type from the others even in appearance, her hair being a rich brown and her eyes so darkly gray that in the evening they seemed quite black."

I have already started a Tatiana Characteristics thread, and I will probably do so for the Little Pair, too.

What characteristics does Olga have? Please, use anecdotes, snippets of biographies, even photographs and their captions if necessary. Any feedback is appriciated.

Thanks you!

Olga Nicholaievna was very straightforward, sometimes too outspoken, but always sincere. She had great charm, and could be the merriest of the merry…She was generous, and an appeal to her met with immediate response…  Olga Nicolaievna was devoted to her father. The horror of the Revolution told on her more keenly than on any of the others…Baroness Sophie Buxhoevden

She was hot tempered, but did not bear grudges. She had her father's heart, but lacked his consistency....straightforward and sincere, she was unable to conceal her feelings and was evidently closer to her father than her mother. --Tutor Charles Gibbes

Her chief characteristics, I should say, were a strong will and a singularly straightforward habit of thought and action. She had a hot temper which, however, she early learned to keep under control, and had she been allowed to live her natural life she would, I believe, have become a woman of influence and distinction. ~Anna Vyrubova

The eldest, Olga, possessed a remarkably quick brain. She had good reasoning powers as well as initiative, a very independent manner, and a gift for swift and entertaining repartee. Gilliard

“She was an avid reader and a poetess of considerable talent…” Gleb Botkin

“Olga was by nature a thinker and, as it later seemed to me, understood the general situation better than any member of her family, including even her parents. At least I had the impression that she had little illusions in regard to what the future held in store for them, and in consequence was often sad and worried. But there was a sweetness about her which prevented her from affecting anybody in a depressing manner, even when she herself felt depressed; she alone appeared to see clearly the tragic future." Gleb Botkin

Another tidbit; Olga's saint was Olga of Kiev, my so many greats grandmother. (although, if everyone traces back far enough they would be related to royalty!) she was married to the lord of Kiev. Interesting fact, she was made a saint because she helped spread the first seedlings of Christianity in pagan Rus. She however, did kill a whole town just because their ruler killed her husband... Re Post # 143:   Since we are now on a topic that is out of the ubiquitous "Having Fun,"  it would be expected that this catagory is more "educational," "exact," well-documented," etc.  Therefore I simply could not let this statement of yours pass without comment:  "Another tidbit: Olga's saint was Olga of Kiev, MY SO MANY GREATS GRANDMOTHER (emphasis mine)....."
Not for a moment do I believe this, and would ask you to show reasonable genealogical proof in response to back up your claim.  It is silly, imaginative statements made like this to potentially, IMO,"fluff-up" one's standing, that inserts and perpetuates falsity for the new members who read such imaginings and think:  "Wow, Look!  Here is Saint Olga's "so many greats " grandaughter! Just imagine, a member of this Forum!"  (Incidents like this have happened before, here on the Forum, and when challenged, simply "clamed-up" or left: i.e. the "Vander Lippe" incident, claiming "14th grandaughter of Mary Boleyn," of English Elizabethan times.)
IMO,we are responsible for factual contributions outside of the "Having Fun" section, thus I ask that you prove this statement, unless you are being "dramatic."  To state positively and specifically (as you have) that a person who died in AD 969, has an identified, documented, proven "so many greats" grandchild alive and on this Forum is beyond wishful thinking in my opinion. I look forward to your producing documented proof of your descent from Saint Olga of Kiev.  Regards,  AP.

You have it sir! Just give me some time to compile the rest of my genealogy. Think about it like this; if your related to one royal, you most certainly are related to another! They married royal for the most part! Think about how Alexandra wouldn't let Olga marry into a lower rank, because they were royalty! So many different ties to so many different families! And, in the future, (so as not to desecrate the good grand duchess Olga Nikolaevna Romanova's board) would you PLEASE PM me? Squabbles should not be made public, unless they have to do with the public!

We have to admit, even though she did a lot of messed up things, (Olga of Kiev I mean) she still did that as a pagan, and so I don't think the church cared about that after she was baptized, washed away of all old sins.
I agree, that quote is painfully ironic! It really makes me feel horrible, because this world should have only gotten better, and because of all the irony included! Olga, (Romanova) you were wise beyond your years D;

Re Post # 146: Thank you so VERY much for your prompt reply!  I certainly await your showing of the line of descent.  I am NOT a PM person, believing that what needs to be said can be said openly. Thus since you have announced this OPENLY, I ask that you inform ALL of us OPENLY of the results by posting here.  Naturally, I would not expect reams of pages. In a relatively simplified manner, show the direct descent (with dates) from Saint Olga to you.  I have experience in genealogy and heraldry, thus I can track a great deal of your information on-line (esp. in the USA, via census records, etc., provided I am given the correct information. So as not to identify you in the present, you may end your descent information with your appropriate grandparent,or even great-grandparent.
It is really stretching the imagination that such information asked of you would "desecrate the good grand duchess Olga Nikolaevna Romanova's board."  Any "Squabbles" that you would perceive from this well-intentioned exchange of information are absurd.  You stated your position of descent in "Public," have the courtesy to us all, to reply with the descent proof, in "Public."   Good to speak with you again.       Regards,  AP.

Sir I am on my phone, so I can not copy and paste. You are getting a PM with these records, because I have done too much already. Also, I mean squabbles that desecrate the board. This is not in the grand duchess's memory, this is more of a squabble.
