I don't know why Alexei named his dog "Joy".

Here is my copy in German:

"...Und dein Hund? Er folgt besser, wenn du ihn "Joy" rufst, das heißt auf Englisch "Freude"."  

This was found under section of Alexei and his pet Joy.

The last one you posted was certainly taken earlier than the one I had posted. I don't recall seeing any Alexei's photos in 1913 with Joy.

Unless...Is this Joy?



I also got no clue when this one might have been taken...Anyone? 1913?

Yes, you are correct. In the last photo, the white doors behind the Joy reminds me of those in Governor's Mansion at Tobolsk. Thought that one could have been at Stavka as well.
