If you look at photos where Victoria and the Queen are standing next to each other, compare the two... I think they look alot alike. Madeleine looks more like Karl-Gustav... Prince Karl Philip...I don't know...

There was just an interview Victoria gave to a Turkish newspaper where she said she would put Sweden before personal happiness. That she had no wedding plans as of yet but would marry someone she and Sweden could both love.

Victoria will make an excellent queen.  She's studied abroad, travelled all over, trained with her father, survived a bout with anorexia, and seems to be very centered.

I think that early on she had to deal with the strong personality of her mother and forge her own independent road.  This may be a partial source for the anorexia, as Sylvia is very concerned about appearance.  But Sylvia is also an incredibly bright woman who speaks many languages and is interested in many issues, and she has passed this on to her daughter as well.

The main concern of the people in Sweden right now with regard to her is whether she intends to marry her boyfriend, a commoner.  She has made it very clear that her royal duties come before love, however.

Oh yes, I forgot about Queen Silvia's unusual heritage. It has certainly rubbed off on her two elder children. On an unrelated issue, Prince Carl Philip is a dead ringer for Orlando Bloom. Anyone else see it?

CP Victoria could marry her boyfriend, couldn't she?  Her mother is a commoner.

She could indeed. I understand that Scandanavians have always been more liberal about marrying commoners than continental royalty. Besides, in this day and age who's going to kick up a fuss about it?

Crown Princess Victoria could marry her boyfriend, yes. I don't think the Scandinavian royals are really picky about things like that anymore.
There could possibly be a little fuss about it because if Victoria marries Daniel Westling, he would initially become Prince Consort, or if she decided to make him so, King Consort. I'm assuming there's alot of training involved for that position; affairs of state and such. He'd have to learn alot in politics and things like that. Smiley

She admitted to having anorexia (thru a palace spokesperson) in 1977 and it appears she'd been suffering from it for about a year.

She went through treatment (and I believe the entire family had counseling) and appears to be completely recovered.

Well, yes.  1997.  <slapping self silly>

1977 would have been a little bit early to have anorexia......lol.

It's interesting to me that the Swedes openly shared the struggle of Victoria, while the Brits did everything they could to keep Diana's eating disorder quiet...Just another example of how different these families are.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.  I know next to nothing about this family.
