favourite french queen, princess, or princess of the blood;

my fave queen has got to be Marie Antoinette; fav princess has to Madame Infante, baptised Marie Louise Élisabeth de France (later duchess of Parma) and fav princess of the blood is prooobably Louise Élisabeth de Bourbon, ''princesse de Conti'' and grand daughter of Madame de Montespan..

Yes, but her story is also quite tragic.  Sad

She's also my favourite. Maybe it's just the time she lived in, the horrible ending in store for her and the way she dressed that has got us interested in her. My favourite princess of the blood is Élisabeth de Bourbon, sister in law of Marie Antoinette.

I can only agree that Marie Antoinette is the most tragic and interesting french female. But I like her Lady of the Court, Madame Lamballe, too, who suffered such a tragic death during the French Revolution. And Madame de Pompadour, Madame du Barry, the Nesle sisters, well, all French love affairs of the King of France, but they had quite interesting lifes. Let s not forget Marie Antoinettes only surviving daughter. Wink

Non-British rulers?

Haakon VII. Established a very solid Norwegian monarchy, was a pragmatic and unpretentious man, and led Norwegian resistance to Hitler.

Due to her influence in my life the obvious choice is Anastasia. After all, it was the mystery surrounding her possible escape and survival that drew me to the Romanov's and the history of the Russian empire in the first place. I almost have to refuse picking a "favorite" though, at least amongst the sisters and Alexei. Just so much to love and admire about all of them, and their personalities were all so unique...flies right in the face of eventual communist USSR and what was almost an intentional commitment by the government to create citizens as carbon copies of each other...lifeless, faceless, drones.

One thing that continues to intrigue me about Anastasia though is how "modern" a child she seemed to be. I think if the who family had been time warped to 2012 it would Anastasia that would have the easiest, most seamless transition. There is just something about her adorable, prankster, almost diva-esque personality that, while not necessarily possessing as laudable of personality traits as some of her other family members, seems perfectly suited to the world of today. She reminds me of my niece Tarah (or perhaps I should say Tarah reminds me of Anastasia) who I adore and find as hysterical as I do precious...God bless them both!

I'm going to have to disagree with you as I find Anastasia quite the reverse of adorable!
