Crown Prince Haakon has cancelled his trip to Monaco this weekend for the Enthronisation of Prince Albert.Highly probable that a new Princess/Prince will arrive very soon :)

The double a (aa; nowadays generally written ĺ) is pronounced somewhat like "o" in the word "California". It's a long vowel. The o in Haakon is pronounced approximately like "o" in the word "on". It's a short vowel. Stress is on the first syllable.

That's funny, that in Norway, Ingrid Alexandra will become queen over her brother, but in the British line of succession, the little prince comes first.

Any wagers on names? I'm going with something like Olav Alexander Harald (or something like that), the first two after his great-grandfather, the second after his grandfather. Olav Alexander would be cute to match his sister's name.

Men are haunted by the vastness of eternity. And so we ask ourselves: will our actions echo across the centuries? Will strangers hear our names long after we're gone and wonder who we were? How bravely we fought? How fiercely we loved?

According to the Swedish evening paper Aftonbladet (sometimes not the one you read to find out the truth), the new Norwegian prince's name will be Sverre Magnus.

Here is the link, although I know that most of the members here don't speak Swedish: http://www.aftonbladet.se/vss/foraldrar/story/0,2789,741441,00.html

Congratulations to Norway and the Norwegian Royal family! :)

It is Prince Sverre Magnus indeed,no Royal Highness nor Highness,"just" plain Prince,
Prince Sverre.Odd,but then his aunt paved the way to a different construction, and
only the Heir or Heir Apparent is HRH. :-/

Thanks for the news again Lucien.Got to phone my dear Norwegian friend and give her congratulations on Norway's new Prince. I'm sure she's already informed,as one of her sister's is very close to the family.

Thanks again. What a joy there will be for their holidays.

If it by any chance would interest anyone, Norway once had a king by the name of Sverre. Sverre Sigurdsen was the illegitimate son of king Sigurd II and a lady named Gunhild (I haven't found her last name). King Sverre was born 1150 or 1152 and died 1202. Different sources state his reign from either 1177 or 1184 until his death. He was firstly married to Astrid Roesdatter, and secondly to Margareta Eriksdotter, princess of Sweden. If I'm not mistaken, among his descendants today is queen Margrethe II of Denmark.

No, not unless his elder sister Ingrid dies before him without issue. She will become Queen of Norway after her father passes away or renouces the throne, not him.
