Princess Martha Louise and Ari Behn

Princess Martha-Louise of Norway (daughter of King Harald) has written a fairy tale book for children, about how how her grandfather (later King Olav V) came to Norway with his parents King Haakon and Queen Maud, as a little boy. I thought this was such an interesting idea! I just might buy it myself...and I could say the book is really for my little girl... ;) The illustrations are really fantastic.

Princess Martha Louise stopped in Minot, North Dakota at the Norsk Hostfest, a Scandinavian-American festival, as part of her book tour to promote her children's book "Why Kings and Queens Don't Wear Crowns." I have to say I was very impressed by her presentation. The book is told from the perspective of a 3-year-old King Olav and is a sort of historical fairy tale about what happened when Norway won its independence and Haakon and Maud became king and queen. Little Olav wants to learn about Norway, but is hampered by having to wear his crown all the time. Princess Martha Louise said she was inspired to write the book because of all the times she heard "She isn't the princess. She doesn't have a crown!" from children at public appearances she has made.

The book is beautifully illustrated and the story is pretty well written. I'd say it should be read aloud to small children. The reading level is probably more for the middle to upper elementary grades. Princess Martha Louise seems to be a highly intelligent, down to earth person, She talked about going to public school, stealing apples from a neighboring farm when she was a child, and a pet parrot she had. The kids in the audience really enjoyed the talk, particularly when she pointed out that she didn't go around in a crown and a ball gown as princesses are usually portrayed in literature.

She gave a very expressive reading of the book. She said something I really liked about the importance of inward character versus outward appearance -- "Wear the crown in your heart." She has an interesting accent that seems to be a mix of Oxbridgian English and Norwegian. All in all, I was very impressed. I bought the book as a Christmas present for my future niece or nephew, who will have some Scandinavian blood.

I recently came across several news stories concerning Martha Louise and her ability to talk angels. She is planning to open a school to teach children how to share this ability. Anyone's thoughts?

"I shall be very disappointed," she remarked for the record, "if George doesn't come up again." Queen Mary upon hearing her husband was to ride in a submarine.

When asked the question of when her eldest son would return to the country Queen Mary said, "Not until he comes to my funeral."

Being clairvoyant isn't all that unusual, not even in Royal circles,to name but one,the late Grand Duchess Josephine-Charlotte was known as such.

She won't harm anyone, live and let live,in this case.

Well...live and let live, I agree with Lucien, but...I personally find very diferent being a clairvoyant in the way of Josephine-Charlotte (somewhere I read an enigmatic history of a little girl telling her mother she never could return to home from Switzerland...because she would be dead in a short time) and being a clairvoyant in the way of Martha Louisa. All this words about to teach how one can talk with angels, paying 1.500 euros, of course, to be admitted in her school...well, private bussiness, but not a fairly thing.

I had no idea Josephine-Charlotte was clairvoyant! Very interesting! I also say live and let live; hope she is successful with her school.  :)

I'm confused of how did Ari Behn get the reputation of being a "Bohemian". Somebody tell me please....

Amazing colored fotos  by the most wonderful Yelena Aleksandrovna. Endless thank you very much!
