I have catch the shots of the palace that were contained on the website given before.

It is the very first time I see those pics which are not a piece of art(the quality is "middle road")....Any other would be quite appreciated!

Oak room

Theatre hall

Gala dining room

Louis XVI parlor

An interesting fact: in the Palace on Sergievskaya str (former Palace of Prince Baryatinskiy) once lived Princess Maria Metscherskaya (1844-1868), first great love of Emperor Alexander III. She married Pavel Demidov.

Oldenburg is in Germany, but the Oldenburg family made their home mostly in Russia.
Prince Peter belonged to a junior line of the German Grand Ducal Oldenburg family...a younger son had gone to Russia to seek fame & fortune by marriage into the Romanov family.

I was wondering if anyone had any further information on the Sergievskaya street mansion gifted by NII to Duke Peter and Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna.

If I remember correctly there was an picture of the mansion in the 'Last Grand Duchess', and it seemed a large multi story mansion.  I have read it had 200 rooms, but have failed to find anything else, except that the Nabokov's (according to google Tongue) also had a house on this street.

Is it not now owned by the Petersburg Chamber of Commerce?

It is on the same street as the crumbling Neva Hotel, where I have stayed. At the time (2002), it was about the only affordable place in the city centre, so I have fond memories of it, despite its bad reputation. Staying in a run-down mansion near the Summer Garden beats staying in a run-down towerblock on the Viborg side any day!

Yes its down the street from the Nabokov mansion, which is a museam now.

Does anyone have a photograph ? This must be the mansion she lived in with her then current and her future husband Kulikovski ?

Are we thinking of a different house? As far as I know, the Nabokov Museum is on the (Bolshaya) Morskaya.

I think there are actually some pics of the Sergievskaia house elsewhere on the thread (I think I have see some on the forum somewhere anyway), but if anyone can find an email address for the Chamber of Commerce they might be able to help.

One of GD Olga's grandchildren is now back in Moscow.  I am sure that he is aware of this place but will send him an email to get his views on it.
