We all focus on N&A and OTMAA, but are there any fans out there of the lesser known Romanovs? I've become fans of the following:

Tatiana Konstantinovich
GDss Pavel (nee Alexandra of Greece)
GDss Konstantine (nee Elizabeth of Saxe-Altenberg) and her mother-in-law the senior GDss Konstantine
Princess Ioann Konstantinovich (nee Helen of Serbia)
GDss Elena Petrovna

Any others out there?

I'm quite partial to Igor Konstantinovich. He seems to have been an interesting character, aswell as Georgi Alexandrovich.

After reading "The Camera and the Tsars" I've become fan of Georgi Mikhailovich's daughters Nina and Ksenia and also of Vera Konstantinovna (daughter of Konstantin Nikolaevich)  and the children of Konstantin Konstantinovich (Ivan, Gavril, Tatiana, Konstantin, Oleg, Igor, Georgi, Natalia and Vera).

This book, plus Romanov Autumn, got me interested in the Konstantinovichi. I read in CATT that Oleg became engaged to GD Peter Nicholaivich's (sorry for any misspelling!) daughter right before the war but didn't have time to marry before he left, I guess. Anyone know anything about that--a love match? She married Nicholas Orlov in the Crimea around 1917.

I can't call Boris Vladimirovich one of my favorite Romanov's.  He was a cad, a leech, a rogue... (I'm searching for some more adjectives to apply to him!) but every time I read stories about him or even see his picture, I have to chuckle.  Go figure...

I have to admit my partiality for Princess Paley, the wife of GD Paul, and also for Princess Brassova, wife of GD Mikhail.  I'm not too sure that it isn't to do with the fact that they were both morganatic spouses and very much victims of the  IF laws governing the marriages of the Romanovs.
I would love to find out some more about Miche-Miche's daughters Nadejda and Anastasia, respectively the Marchioness of Milford Haven and Lady Wernher.  Does anyone know of any biographies of these ladies?

I can't believe that I almost forgot to add one of my favourite people - Alexandra Iosifovna, Grand Duchess Konstantin, wife of Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolaievich.  I adore the photo taken at the coronation in 1896 which shows her in later life, dressed in Russian court dress and loaded with emeralds/sapphires (no one seems to be able to decide which they are) seated next to the Duchess of Connaught and surrounded by Romanov women.
I think that she must have been a very interesting woman; being married to the intellectual and liberal (yet extremely volatile) Konstantin must have been quite a challenge.  Between them they sired the Konstantinovichi who emerge from the ranks of the Romanovs as cultured and interesting people.  Anybody know if there is a good biography of her?

I find Nicholas Mikhailovich interesting, though his personality is somewhat hard to understand and figure out.

Miechen and Vladimir. Fascinating both as a couple and seperately as individuals.
I also like KR and Grand Duke Alexei.

I'll add Grand Duke Dmitri Pavlovich to the list.  He's always been very interesting to me probably because he was a horseman. Smiley And he was very handsome too. Wink

May I suggest a thing? Instead of simply listing our favourites (we all have them), could we also add a few interesting details about them? I think any newbie here could find this thread even more interesting and we cna all learn a bit more about these characters too Smiley

"Character" is a good word choice to describe Miechen and Vladimir! Cheesy Vladimir was sophisticated, an arts patron, highly cultured, and a Francophile of the first degree.  He also had a passion for architecture and design which was shown in his acqusition and decor of the Vladimir Palace. Miechen was strong-willed, a superb hostess, interested in all the backroom political goings-on at the court. She also did not convert to Orthodoxy upon marrying into the Romanovs, and socially she would receive divorced persons when that was pretty much a no-no in Russian high society. They were both great contrasts to N&A and that to me is totally intriguing.
I guess the classic Miechen/Vladimir story for a newbie would be the drunken make-out session she had with the actor Lucien Guitry at a restaurant in St. Petersburg, which so infuriated Vladimir he threatened Guitry's life. Shocked Never boring!
