I'd probably invite the Tsar's children - but only if they left their toy guns at home!
(If I remember right, these toy guns must have been a Christmas present during the war, and Alexandra writes one day to the Tsar that the children are in the dining room playing with their guns. The next day, they are still playing with the guns, which have now become 'wretched guns'!)

I would invite Olga Nikolaievna, Tatiana, and Maria. I like Anastasia and all, but I wouldn't invite her to any dinner, she seemed too hyper. Oh, I would invite Aleksey, too.

Alexandra. I think we'd make a good pair of friends and get along just fine, since no one else really likes us ;)

Anastasia is my favorite, I think we've a few things in common. She's welcome at my table, tho' it will be the noisiest one. Alexei must be seated on the other side of the table far away from me, because I don't want to find a strawberry in my shoe afterwards, tho' you never know with Anastasia.

I would love to have dinner with Catherine the Great (she is a Romanov too, you know).
Among the more contemporary Romanovs,  Grand Duke Nikolai Mikhailovich, the historian, because I think he was very knowledgeable about Russian history and would be very interesting to talk to.

Yes Catherine was certainly a Romanov-- but I think I would be a bit too intimidated by her to enjoy dinner...

Actually I think that my poor repasts would not have pleased any Romanov's taste buds.

hehehehehe

I'd like to dine with Alexandra. I mean, if I had one chance to see a Romanov, I wouldn't care if the conversation sucked. Really though, I'd like to get a good look at her and I personally find her to be an interesting character. Mind you, I don't mean interesting as in "intellectual" (although I know that she was in her own way). Definitely a fascinating woman.

I don't think so, she seemed like she may have been kind of down to earth actually... And she seems not only intelligent, but also like she would have had a good sense of humor.

Alexandra  would probably make me nervous because of her own nervousness, so she would not be my first choice... And because of her shyness I would feel like I would have to make all the conversation, which I really would rather not!  ;D

Maria Pavlovna and Vladimir would be my choice of dinner guests; I would ensure however that no pretty actresses or handsome actors were on the guest list.
I know that these two are not to everyone's taste but they were elegant cultivated people, with just enough malice to make interesting dinner conversation!
