She looks so tenderly, what a surprise that she became that old, not very common in that time, I think. The picture with the children is very lovely. She has some melancholic, but nice look.

Several facts are amazing among the children of D.Miguel and D.Adelaide.

First of all, they all survived infancy.

Second they all lived till old age:

D. Maria das Neves infanta de Portugal, died at 88 years old
D. Miguel, duque de Bragança, died at the age of 74
D. Maria Tereza, infanta de Portugal, died at 88.
D. Maria José, infanta de Portugal, died at 85.
D. Aldegundes, infanta de Portugal, duquesa de Guimarães, died at 87.
D. Maria Ana, infanta de Portugal, grand-duchess of Luxembourg died at 81.
D. Maria Antónia, infanta de Portugal, died at 96.

Third : all the orphan daughters and the son of an exiled king made excellent marriages, much superior to their cousins, daughters of Queen D.Maria II and D.Fernando II, who, through his Saxe-Coburg connections, could have found better matches to his daughters.

Remarkable

...Except his natural daughter, dona Maria da Assunção, born in Lisbon in1831, died in Roma in 1897. She was 66. Only...

This is only genealogy info, indeed. We can read it in "Le Sang de Louis XIV" (Braga 1961). In french. A senhora dona Maria da Assunção, born in Lisbon march 12 in 1834, died in Roma on july 1897. She was legitimated by King Miguel 's written and signed declaration in Albano (Italy) august 2d 1839.
"Podendo ser que Deus seja servido  de me chamar a Si, não tendo eu feito testamento, Declaro que Dona Maria d' Assunção he minha filha,e por tal a reconheço. Paço em Albano aos 2 d'agosto de 1839".-Logar de selo-
Firmado "El-Rei M.R"

Archduchess Maria Teresa with her daughter Annunziata (She looks like her father, I think, blue Habsburg eyes!)

It's from the site of the "Austrian Bildarchiv", I almost never saw such a gorgeous site with so many rare pictures, especially of the Habsburgs. I recommend anyone, who is interested, to have a look there.  Smiley

Does anybody know where did she live

a) while married to Karl-Ludwig ? Did the couple own any palace in Vienna ? Does it still exhist ?
b) after the fall of the Empire ?

Huh

Maria Teresa de Bragança archduchess of Austria lived in Vienna, until her death in 1944, in her own Palace, Favoritsrasse, and also in Villa Wartholz in the neighbourhood of Reichenaù.

While Archduke Carl Ludwig was married to Maria Annunziata of Naples he bought the nice palais in Vienna (Wieden, Favoritenstraße) Remi mentioned. I read that Maria Theresia lived there as a widow and that she defended the palais during WWI.
The palais as well as Villa Wartholz still exists.

There's a book about Maria Theresia by Norbert Nemec. I can hardly recommend it, but it's better than nothing.

Yes, this palace do still exist....It is situated Favoritenstrasse, 15a, in the centre of Vienna. Nowadays, it is the Office of Diplomatic Academy of Vienna open to students from all world over who want to learn german and Austrian civilisation and history.

Achduchess Maria Teresa was undoubtedly very good mother and step mother, but I would like to know more about her relationship to her husband Karl Ludwig. Between them was 22 years age difference and I read that Achduke used to be quite jealous to his young beautiful wife.
Was there anything as love between them(at least on one side)?

I am interested also in early death of Karl Lodwig's doughter Margarethe Sophie (1870-1902) from his second marriage.
Could anybody contribute with her/his knowlidge?
