I hope that I can find it one day online. She looks really good on this painting... How old was she?

I do not think that the Hesse famiy still had it. It might have been destroyed in the War.

I think there might be smaller versions of it in private hands.

The only small one we have seen. Maybe someone can look at the Sotheby's & Christie records to see if one has ever been sold.

I had bought that print--it had been removed from an old magazine or book of the time--and have it in a frame on my wall along with Kaulbach's portrait of Queen Marie of Romania--or at least I will once hubby gets them hung up again in the new house. They form pendant portraits. : ) Because of the heavy paper they are printed on, I'm thinking they were probably from a book on Kaulbach's work from around the turn of the century. They are thicker than magazine papers (not as thick as the woodbury prints) but still thin enough to be fairly fragile.

Sorry.  :) That was a while ago--I'm surprised you remembered it was me. Was it for Ella or Marie? I bought both of them through ebay.
