Does anyone else get that "You are about to view pages over a secure connection" box on this page?

Ahhh... no.  Huh

I looked every where for icons, but I could only find ones of Nicholas and Alexei. Where did you get the one of Olga, nerdycool?

Good question. I actually don't remember where I got them from. I'll look around and see if I can find the site.

It is not an icon, because Rasputin is not a Saint, nor venerated by anyone as such except by a few crackpots.

Most icons depicting a female Saint will have the head covered, because women are supposed to have their hair covered in Church. This goes back to the beginnings of the Church, and I think you'll find it is only very recently in Western Churches that women haven't at least worn a hat in Church.

An icon doesn't necessarily look the person depicted did in real life - it is essentially an image of that person in their transfigured fulness. Traditional style icons are very different from Russian icons of the latter part of the Russian Empire which were highly influenced by Western art. There is, thank God, a tendancy back to traditional iconography. I guess one reason the Imperial Family is depicted as pre-War is that that is how most people in Russia would remember them - there wasn't a lot of socialising, and nice publicity photos etc during the war so I guess the majority of people remember them from the tercentenary photos. I do wish though there were icons showing them as more their correct age.

This is my favourite icon of Saint Alexandra as it has her with the Imperial crest and also Alexander Palace in her hand!

This is Saint Serafim. This is the saint that Nikolai and Alexandra prayed to when trying to concieve a boy after Anastasia.
