Hey there Ritka. It is a play by Robert Bolt about Thomas More, who stood up to Henry VIII when the King rejected the Roman Catholic Church  to obtain a divorce and remarriage. Thomas is a man of principles and reason and is, therefore, placed in a diffficult position....stand up for those principles and risk Henry's wrath, orbow to the King's desires.
Its all about absolute power versus individual freedom Wink

She is his well-educated and intellectual daughter who is in love with Will Roper. She seems to understand her father's morals and motives more than anyone else ( I found this play a bit dry...treason, I know) Wink

I loved the play. The dialogue is witty and compelling and taken from the court transcripts and William Roper's bio of his father-in-law, Sir Thomas More, the saint, scholar and Renaissance man. (if you want more about Henry and Anne, see "Anne of the Thousand Days," which is good, too.

Yes,  much of it was taken directly from the transcripts of the trial.

Its actually on in the West End of London at the moment, with the incredibly fragrant Martin Shaw as Thomas More. It is enjoying rave reviews Wink
