This was the tiara I was thinking of, but those uprights don't look like Maltese crosses, they look like fleur de lys, although the base looks right... :-/

That is the same tiara. There must have been various motifs to wear along the bandeau.Indeed Alexandra had a set of embellishments (scrolls) to wear between the fleur-de-lys !!!!

Not the best pic, but it seems to show the Maltese crosses.

So, that mystery is settled then!

Why is it so difficult to find out anything about the Norwegian jewels?
I have searched the internet and haven't found anything substantial.  Can anyone help with pics?

I don;t think the crown princess wears any historical jewels yet...

The Crown Princess has been seen wearing a small tiara/necklace that (is said) was originally a present to Queen Maud from her paternal grandmother Queen Victoria on her 18th birthday

The small jewel is known as the Vifte tiara and has been worn in both forms by the current Queen.

Will she? Won't it be merely an option. There are other jewels available--Queen Sonja just happens to prefer the emerald one and thus is most frequently seen in it.

Queen Maud's diamond & pearl tiara (shown on the first page) would be nice. It's ornate but not overly large. (It's the one that's been reproduced after the theft)

Queen Maud's Malteser Cross tiara--worn with just the bandeau.

The Diamond Tiara that came from Queen Louise of Denmark.

All of these would suit MM.

Response to Reply #26:  Luca_ADE, you will find clear color photos/black and white and information that you seek on pages 88 & 89 ("Northern Europe (Norway)" in the relatively inexpensive book, "Crown Jewels of Europe," by Prince Michael of Greece, 1983, Harper & Row publishers, New York. The ISBN 0-06-015201-X.  It may be out-of-print now.  Perhaps in a library near you?      Regards,   AP.

After the coronation centennary in 2006 a beautiful new site (and exhibition in the coronation city Trondheim) about the Norwegian regalia was launched with many pictures. Here is the English version: https://info.ovf-nett.no/index.gan?id=27097

Ive just seen a photo of Crown Princess Martha wearing QVs Turkish earrings which apparently were worn at her wedding to Prince Albert.  How strange that these were not kept in the line of succession to the UK crown and went off to Norway.  Pic was on A Tiara A Day site.
