I personally would have preferred something a little more Scandanavian.

Yeah, me too. But Isabella is pretty. It just sounds more Spanish than Scandanavian. Is there any particular way Isabella and Henrietta is pronounced in Danish? Iknow the last two are Ing-ree Marg-aret-tah (not Marg-a-reeth).

It's not exactly a new name. Christian II was married to Princess Isabella von Habsburg back in 1515. (She was barely 14, and died very young, only 25 years old) Allthough she became known as Elisabeth in Denmark, but there has'nt been any Isabella in the danish royal family since, before now Wink.

The picture of Christian sneaking raisins out of his Father's pocket is too too cute! I think he's going to be a Royal to watch!

Why have all the kings of Denmark since the XVIth century only used the names Frederick and Christian?

Because it is a tradition. Queen Margarethe II. made an except with her son the current CP Frederik, named after her father Frederik IX., but if Margarethe would be male, she would be possibly a "Christian".

I found it about the naming of little Prince Christian:

/The name / "Christian" is after his great-great-grandfather, King Christian X of Denmark, continuing the Danish royal tradition of the heir apparent being named either Christian or Frederik.

I mean that she named her son Frederik and not Christian.. (after the tradition: one Frederik, one Christian, one Frederik and so on..., not only Frederik or Christian)

But maybe it is more clear with a quote, not my english :-)

"...first-born sons of Danish monarchs have traditionally been alternately named Frederik and Christian; Queen Margrethe, while naturally interrupting this sequence, treated herself as a "Christian" for the purposes of alternation, coming between one Frederik (her father) and, presumably, another (her son). Prince Christian will likewise presumably be known as "King Christian XI of Denmark" (following his great-great-grandfather Christian X. in that name)."
