How does Tatiana rank in the list of the Romanovs that are your favorites or are important to you? Is she really that unlovable?

Why does Tatiana seem unlovable to some people? Have you seen the picture of her with her uncle Ernst Ludwig? I LOVE that one of her. She's got the prettiest smile, and is playing around because it looked like E. L. had snuck up behind her, wrapped his legs around her waist, and was trying to put her arms behind her back. (We've all had that annoying relative do that, I'm sure.)  Wink Tatiana seems so alive, and human!

IMO people don't tend to "relate" to Tatiana as she was very proper, she knew her duty, and she was very unselfish.  She did what needed to be done.  This can be seen as good or bad.  She also was the type who, I think, wished to please everyone.  She wanted to be liked, she wanted to be a good sister, daughter, etc... this is seen in the way she was to close to Alexandra who needed someone with a level head around.  Tatiana had that level headedness and an even temper.

Clock- In My Opinion.  Wink
I like Tatiana just as much as I like Marie and Olga. Like Lanie said, it isn't that she is unlovable, it is just that she was a little more proper and people of this era cannot relate to that as well.

The favorite OTMA to me is Olga Nicholaievna, but tatiana IS important to me. Why? I think she had the sense of duty that more carefree Olga could never reach. She was a sweet good girl who always wanted to make her mamma  and papa happy. This is important too, and I appreciate how Tatiana tried to hold the family together .

She was TRULY, the Tsar daughter. And she is a deary too. I'm starting to discover her great personnality, too.

Tatiana was kind of quiet, yet she was no where near unlovable. She was the kind of person that would stab herself before she would stab her family or friends. I think the reason people see her as unlovable is because her behavior was so proper. Tatiana is important to me because she had so many great values. The role of the quiet leader, the loving daughter, and the funny girl we see in the picture clockworkgirl was describing.

This seems to me a very strange question. Everyone is important.
In her lifetime, Tatiana was the most popular and most beloved by the Russian people of all the Tsar's daughters - it seems strange that some have this idea of her as being cold and aloof, she obviously had the people's touch, however as we don't have sound bites and pictures of her in glossy magazines, perhaps her personal charm doesn't shine through so well in this day and age.

In addition I will say, that as she is entered in the ranks of the Saints, then she is very important, as much as any of her siblings.

Tatiana is important enough to me for me to say that I like her better than the other three girls.  Smiley  She's my fave!  Of course, I like the other three girls, too!

I think that one of the reasons that people think that way is that Tatiana often looks cold and aloof in photographs.  :-/  She is frequently seen frowning or looking bored:

There is something strange in our time: when someone doesn't like rebellion he is seen as not interesting, annoying. I find that quite strange, I would like to say "stupid", but it would not be respectful.
Tatiana is said as a "practical" girl and some people seem to undestand this word as she was all the time doing the washing up, cleaning her room and telling her sisters to be good girlies Grin. But practical mean something totally different in her case: she was practical the same way as her mother was, she had a good sense of organisation. As we say in french elle avait la tete sur les epaules. I can not see why is that bad and annoying, it is interesting qualities!
And last, look at the pictures of Tatiana on the Standart, with the officers, with her sisters. She is having fun, she smiles (and what a beautiful smile).
Briefly speaking, I can not understand where is this legende of a "cold and annoying" Tatiana from. If someone as an explanation... Wink

I find Tatiana fascinating. I do NOT think she was cold and aloof, she just had a naturally dignified bearing and perhaps a little of her mother's reserve--but clearly she was a loving and lovable girl. Even her beauty may in a way cause a negative impression of her--"Anyone that beautiful has just GOT to be stuck-up!!" Which of course is nothing but a biased thing to think, and totally unfair to Tatiana. I'll bet she'd have made a wonderful, generous--and, yes, FUN friend!!

My favorite out of OTMA is Olga. I can relate to her alot. Tatiana IS important to me it's just I don't really relate to her.  I don't think Tatiana is seen as unlovable, it's just people don't relate to her as to the others. As Georgiy said, everbody is important. Tatiana was a lovely girl, and as she got older, woman.

Thanks for posting!  Smiley I started this thread because I saw the ''seen as unlovable thread'' and wondered not if anyone could relate to Tatiana but is she important to them? And if so, what rank. You have answered my question well. As for myself. Tatiana is my fourth favorite Romanov, (behind her sisters) and is important to me because she did her duty to her country and family, put others above herself, was practical and solved problems for people, you knew you coud put her in charge. In any country, any time, these are good qualities.
