Alexandra Nicholaevna Memorial

Can anyone tell me where Nicholas I's memorial to his daughter Alexandra Nicholaevna actually stood within the Alexander Park? What happened to the memorial and the statue of Alexandra? Does anyone have a picture of the statue itself? I know Bob has a picture of the memorial on the main part of this website.

There is a memorial bench with a small bust statue of Alexandra Nicholaevna in the lower park of Peterhof. Is this a copy of the one that was placed in the Alexander Park. I found a link with a picture of the statue at Peterhof (3rd down).

The shrine to Grand Duchess Alexandra Nicholaevna was created in the Alexander Park.   It was sited not far from the 'ideal' cottage she designed and her father had built - right at the water's edge of a nearby pond.

The shrine took the form of an Italian roadside shrine.   It was built of marble and inside stood a life-sized sculpture of the late Grand Duchess.   In her arms she cradled the baby she lost in childbirth and who was buried alongside her.  

Lining the walls inside the shrine were shelves where people could leave flowers in Adina's memory.

Sadly neither the shrine nor the cottage survived the Nazi occupation.

Thanks for that info. I clicked on the link and saw a picture of the statue of the Grand Duchess and the child who died with her, thanks also to the person who posted that. It was a very lovely statue, too bad it didn't survive, and also it looks very much like the Grand Duchess from photos I have seen of portraits of her. It was very accurate. What is also noticable is how much she looks like her father Tsar Paul in all her portraits and also this statue does as well, especially the face. It reminds me of portraits of her father as a young man. Where was Grand Duchess Alexandra buried does anyone know?

I know no one has posted in this topic for a long time, but I'm looking for a photo of the original Alexandra Nikolaevna statue, and the link on this page is dead.  If anyone can help me, please do.

Thanks.  I saw the picture of the pavillion earlier, but I'm desperately searching for a picture of the statue itself--I'm writing a book about Alexandra Nikolaevna, and it would be really nice to see the original memorial.
