It is a new book by the authors of Fate of the Romanovs. Greg King is a well kmown author, especially of books about royalty.
I have it on order, just going on the virtue of his other books- it should not dissapoint.

Yes, it is new. It's not scheduled to be released until March, in fact. However, a few forum members have been lucky enough to receive advance review copies. It's discussed briefly here (the third page of the New Books thread).

We were honored and privileged that Greg sent us an advance copy for our review and comment. I can honestly say that he has done an amazing and superior job,  and it will likely be a basic reference source on the subject.

I'm so indescribably jealous! This is one advance copy I probably can't get through the children's bookshop where I work...

Just when you think there is nothing more that can possibly be published about Nicholas II, along comes a book with a unique focus, authored by someone who is not only interested and knowledgeable about his subject, but painstaking in his research and has a fluid yet well-considered writing style. Hurry up, 2006!  Wink

There is another book on the subject of the Russian court- Scenarios of Power by R.S. Wortman. Is is 2 vol. and not easy to read [also very costly] I imagine Greg used it amongst his reference material as it is quite scholarly. I agree, wish there were nott such a wait.

Thanks for the reference, Robert! (Or should I say "Mr Hall?!" Wink )  In the meantime, here's hoping Greg King's book will soon be readily accessible . . .

I don't know why, but according to my Amazon.com account, it says they're shipping my copy in December. Error? I don't believe it, but I thought I'd just mention it.  Huh

Hmmm...it's possible. I've found quite often (in the children's book realm, at least) that a book will release as much as a month before its alleged sale date!

You are most welcome, Janet_W.  Robert is fine. The pretention of "Mr" in an internet forum is simply comical.
Elsewhere discussed is Costume Ball at the Winter Palace, another excellent 2 volume go hungry book.

Oh my! Grin Now I'm more excited than ever to read this book! I wish it had come out for Christmas, although from what my Amazon.com account states, it may be an early present.  Grin
