The tiara was spectacular. The bride looked like a mix between Crown Princess Mary of Denmark and Nicole Kidman.  ;D

The tiara looks oddly familiar... Can anyone name it?  ???

"I shall be very disappointed," she remarked for the record, "if George doesn't come up again." Queen Mary upon hearing her husband was to ride in a submarine.

When asked the question of when her eldest son would return to the country Queen Mary said, "Not until he comes to my funeral."

It didn't ring a bell but the Schaumburg-Lippes were very wealthy, even after WW1. I don't know how much they lost after WW2. The tiara could be a family piece.

I'm checking on it's origins as well, but it does not look like an heirloom because it has a very contemporary design...looks definitely like latter 20th century and more in the style of the Persian tiaras worn during the last Shah's reign.

The tiara is very like one in the collection of the Dukes of Devonshire.Originally it was made for Countess Louise von Alten the widowed Duchess of Manchester when she married the 9th Duke of Devonshire (who died in 1908). The Duchesses daughter by her first marriage received a even more similair tiara on her mariage to the Earl of Derby...both these diadems have been exhibited and are stil worn by the current ladies of those families..

That's what it reminded me of! Somewhat similar in design.

Yes...I wondered if it was an Anhalt heirloom...Or was it worn by Moretta ? Remember her stuff was auctioned and the Schaumburg-Lippe family bought back their familt heirlooms... ???

Well, the prince was married once before so if you can find pictures of that wedding, if that wife (who, incidentally attended this wedding with her new husband) is wearing the tiara, it might seem that it belongs to the family.

Actually, I found a photo of that wedding (from 1993) but I can't see from the photo whether it's the same tiara or not. Perhaps someone with better eyes can tell. The 2nd photo is of Nadja for comparison. Other sites have referred to it as the Schaumburg-Lippe tiara.

And a link to a page with a LOT of photos and a guest list:

Well, she's a successful doctor and businesswoman so I think she's done well on her own.  :)

A title is still very attractive to a mere doctor... ;)

Well...Titles are the next big thing after money. The examples can be found recently in the Greek & Hapsburg family.  ;D
