Thank you! Doesn't she look like the №6 here? What do you think?

On this photo it is Varvara Afanasievna Vilchkovskaya - famous Bibi, nurse, GD's friend and general's wife.

I asked because the Yandex finder gave me this picture when I was looking for my own articles... Someone wrote in blog that this woman with Alexei is "his nanny Antonina Vorontsova". It's my name. I thought I was going crazy O_o

it does look like her and it makes sense she would be about helping ...

I think she's here with Dr. Botkin and Rita, on the right in the back

Also  could  it be TN's favorite Vladimir Kiknadze on the right in front ?

plus on the left ,one see the Princess without her usual cap and she is quite good looking in her way

Oh  you have the same name! No wonder you were momentarily confused! lol

Yes, it is she. And you have correctly identificated duchess Gedroits I think.
There is my Shakh-Bagov here (at the center), but I never thought there is Kiknadze here, too... May be, but  unlikely: it looks like a summer, and he was in hospital twice and both of times in autumn.
No, if she is Varvara Vilchkovskaya, she is not my namesake, and I wonder why somebody decided that Alexei had a nanny named Antonina!

I don't think that is Shakh-Bagov...I believe that is a fellow who lost his leg and of course I can't find the photos  right now to show who I mean...but  the here the  man has a crutch  ( under his right arm) . He's also the one sitting with Alix in the crochet photos...has a large heel boot. Also in the photo of Alix sitting at the bedside of  young boy

Oh, what a hassle is the identification of wounded soliders!)) Yes I see the crutch... And I know what guy do you mean:

I thought it was Mitia on this photo because he is staying near to a bald officer who accompanies him on many photos. And he was wounded in a leg. But I'm ready to agree with you))

You are a marvel because those are just the photos I was talking about!  Thank you!
The Russian blog these photos  were posted on seems to be closed now, yet the photos are still on the web! =)
Looking at a person's hair helps to identify them. This man has his part down the middle

I seek the help of a fluent Russian speaker to translate a poem by Pushkin, called "The Rose;" I have scoured the web and can find nothing.  I believe it was written in 1815 and later became the lyrics to a musical composition by Mikhail Glinka called "Where is Our Rose."  I would be very, very grateful for an accurate translation:

Где наша роза?

Друзья мои!

Увяла роза,

Дитя зари!...

Не говори:

Вот жизни младость,

Не повтори:

Так вянет радость,

В душе скажи:

Прости! жалею.....

И на лилею

Нам укажи.

Dru,
Where is our rose?
My friends!
The rose, daybreak's child,
Has faded.
Don't say:
Here is the youth of life.
Don't repeat:
So withers the joy.
Say at your heart:
Farewell! I'm sorry...
And  indicate us
A lily.

Hi, I would like your help to this writing. is the back of a photo of the GD  Kyrill and Boris as children. I think it is in German, in Ludwigslust 1879
I only read the names, perhaps August Württemberg ?  and   prince  ??  von preussen .
in 1879 was the marriage of the GD Anastasia Mikhailovna, maybe there is a connection with the event.
Thanks

Hm, I have seen it labeled it as '1915', which is most likely true. I can tell by GD Maria Nicholaievna's mature face, and 1914 is too early, IMO.

Wait. Was this one taken at the same day :

IMO, it was taken at Peterhof, from what I have learnt. Or even at Crimea in 1914.

It is may 1914 (I think the 26th of may), in the Crimea. A trip they had. There are plenty of pictures of that day.

Great, matushka! Thank you. It seems to one my friend that a man near Maria (with a cane) is Demenkov. So, is  it possible?
