Someone gave this to me in Russia this summer, it looks like Feodorovsky Sobor in the background... I never saw this painting before....

Perhaps the person was an artist? Or knows someone who was an artist? It looks like a drawing to me, not a painting. I would however agree that it looks like Feodorovsky Sobor.

That's a beautiful drawing.
It looks like Feodorovsky Sobor to me.
There is a clock that never strikes...
There is a cathedral that goes down and a lake that goes up...
There is a little carriage abandoned in the copse...
There is a troupe of little actors in costume...
And when you are hungry or thirsty, there is someone who drives you away.

I believe this drawing uses the photograph of Alexei taken during the time of the 300th anniversary celebrations.

Cool painting !!! And I agree with Jfkhaos, this painting uses the photo of Alexei during the 300th anniversary celebrations.
