Thijs, are you sure it is Prince Willem Frederik (1836-1846) or his brother Prince Frederik, who died as a boy of 18 months (1833-1834) I this this boy looks a bit older, so it must be the first, but I just wonder..

Danjel, I looked it up. It is prince Frederik jr 1836-1845. There are 2 iditentical portraits of this (by J.B. van der Hulst 1790-1862 the Dutch court painter). The other one is in the possession of the furst zu Wied.  Are there any other known paintings, portraits of the zu Wied family known?

The "Pferdekoppel" on one of the estates of King Wilhelm ll in Wurttemberg, Marienwahl near Ludwigsburg. His daughter, princess Pauline, the furstin zu Wied, was buried here. This was here favorite spot. She was during her whole life extremely fond of horses and that`s why she chose this burial place for herself. This is the place where here own horses stayed during her liftetime. Princess Pauline was a loved and respected princess by the Wurttemberg people, even after she married she stayed a lot in Wurttemburg.
