Maybe England can give some of Empress Dagmar's and other Romanov familiy stuff back too!!!

What stuff exactly? If you are referring to items in the Royal Collection they where purchased fair and square. The Romanovs needed money and the Windsors where good enough to purchase the items at a good price. Therefore I really don't think they need to give anything back! Smiley

I gather there is no separate thread for Imperial regalia, so...:

Does anybody know why and how the Crown of Empress Anna ended up as the designated Crown of the Kingdom of (Congress) Poland, as I've read in several sources?
Today it looks like this in the Kremlin - is something missing? Because it looks rather naked.

With Russia being a northern empire, "my North with its snowy plain" as K.R. calls it in a poem, does any Romanov jewellry or regalia feature ice or snow crystals?

I thought that would have been really fitting, especially with the great use of diamonds instead of gold, for example in the Great Imperial Crown. (Although I can see that a Crown of Ice would have rather fleeting symbolism!) My native kingdom Norway's King's Crown has always irritated me a little, as it's made up of golden oak leaves while oak is not at all common in Norway. It looks to me that the Great Imperial Crown features the same oak leaves in the arch while the bulbuous mitre itself is made up of palm leaves:

"Under Alexander I (reigned 1801-1825), Nicholas I (reigned 1825-1855), Alexander II (reigned 1855-1881), and Alexander III (reigned 1881-1894), the collections grew still more and with pieces such as the Bracelet in the Neo-Gothic Style, and the 260.37 carat Sapphire Brooch, the Russian Imperial State Jewels were arguably the most Important and largest collection of jewelry in the world."

This if from the alexanderpalace.com section on the Imperial Jewels. Do we know if the Neo-Gothic Style bracelet and the 260.37 carat Sapphire Brooch are still in the Russian State Collection?

Russian emprerors was kings of Poland (in russian full name - Empreror of all Russia, Tsar of Poland, Great Prince of Finland..." )But only Nicholas the First was crowned in Warsaw as a king. On that time all crowms of Poland was destroed in Prussia (at 1809-1811) and russians don't know about August III crown - that's why Nicholas used old crown of Anna made at 1730 (it was changed at 1732 - perles changed to diamonds). Empress Anna want to destroed Poland - and Nicholas maybe want to shows to poplish that symbol - that russian emprerors are strong!

I'd probably never wear that (it looks like it might be a bit painfull) but it looks really nice, I'd like to see it up close in person.

I know, I'd still like to wear them. Although if I ever got the chance to actually do it, it'd probably be pretty surreal.

I can dream though...probably wouldn't happen there though either. If I ever did by some for some weird unthinkable reason (which would be completely legal and I would get in trouble at all) then I would make sure I got a picture.
