Princess Lilian was taken to hospital earlyer today, apparently due to what might be a case of food poisining.

The Princess went home again the day after,it probably was something she ate.

The Princess was atmitted to hospital last night after she fell and broke her hip in her appartment.
HRH will turn 93 on august 30th.

TM might cancel their trip to the Olympics due to this condition.

Hoping for a recovery.

HRH Princess Lilian of Sweden, Duchess of Halland passed away
« Reply #21 on: March 11, 2013, 01:56:01 AM »
HRH Princess Lilian passed away in her sleep on sunday afternoon aged 97.
The entire Swedish Royal Family visited Princess Lilian on sunday, including wee Princess Estelle.
Princess Victoria and Madeleine were abroad and immediatly cut short their trips and returned to
Stockholm when they received news that the Princess was terminally ill.

There is a incoming State Visit from the President of Turkey today, and that couldn't be cancelled at
such short notice.HM King Carl XVI Gustav is expected to announce the date for the funeral and Court
mourning today.

In the hope and wish this extraoridinary lady is now re-united with Prince Bertil.

R.I.P.

Such a beautiful lady and so dignified. The love story between her and the prince is a lovely one--a true modern fairy tale. It's sad they didn't get to have children of their own but she seems to have had her honorary grandchildren in the Swedish royals.

Her bone structure is to die for:

""If I were to sum up my life, everything has been about my love," the witty, petite princess said of her husband when she turned 80 in 1995. "He's a great man, and I love him."

"In 1976, some 33 years after they first met, the new king finally gave them the approval they had been waiting for. The bride had by then turned 61 and the groom 64."

"She later wrote: "He was so handsome, my prince. So charming and thoughtful. And so funny. Oh, how we laughed together."

At 2 different Nobel dinners--the necklace she's wearing in both belonged to CPss Margaret. The necklace, by Koch, is composed of ruby, sapphire, diamond and pearls, is decorated with scarabs. It was a gift from Gustaf V and Queen Victoria of Sweden to their daughter-in-law Margaret of Connaught on her wedding day. Daisy and Gustav became engaged after meeting in Egypt--the scarabs might be inspired by that meeting and country.
