It is so nice to read about somebody who doesn't have a Wikipedia article!  ;D
(If you haven't guessed Wikipedia, about 25 books, and this Forum are the only places I learn about royalty!)

Just a question, did she die during the raid or because of her injuries?

I think the Duke meant was she killed instantaneously or did she die later on from her injuries. From the brief description I saw (about her being hardly recognizable) I would think that she died right away but don't know for sure. If she was injured that badly, I certainly hope it was quick.

It's really amazong how much Maria's facial features remember those of her maternal grandfather. Both her children inheritated them from her, especially of course Max.

I agree that Prince Max looked like his mother and had a resemblance to Emperor Nicholas I. But I don' t think Max's sister Marie of Anhalt resembled much her maternal ancestors.

Hi !

I would like to know the religion the present princes of Baden. I supposed they are protestants but
their mother Valerie & Marianne are or were catholics, aren't they ?
what about their children Marie Louise, Bernhard, Leopold, Michael, Sophie, Berthold,Aglae ?
What about Prince Bernard's sons too ?

Were do they live? what are their jobs or interests ?

Thanks a lot !

The Baden children and grandchildren are Lutheran.

The heir is a part of maintaining what is left of the family estates.  Marie Louise lives Colorado with her much older American husband who is a Buddist religious leader ... the rest of the famiily live largely private lives.

They have just sold Baden Castle to the Country Baden-Württemberg (the contract was signed in March) but keept parts of the so called Prälatur of the Castle where Margrave max and his wife live. Hereditary Prince Bernhard who manages the posessions of the Family and his Family live in a House not far away from Salem.

Rare photo of the parents of Max together

Prince Wilhelm and Duchess Maria of Leuchtenberg in 1863, at the time of their wedding

If you do try and remember then you definitely find the Alexandra's photo from her wedding at the previous pages.

A very small one and not a group photo, unlike the many done of her brother who married Princess Theodora of Greece.
